A few things
worth asking.
What Indie does, what it does not, and what is still ahead before launch.
16 answers
Is Indie available yet?
The web app is open for signup. Start a free trial with no card required. The iPhone and Android companions remain in private testing; store downloads are not available yet. Product screens use sample data.
Who is Indie for?
App builders running apps that have users, make sales, or run jobs worth keeping an eye on. That includes AI-built apps, small SaaS products and side projects. The launch plan has one workspace owner; it is not a team on-call plan.
Do I have to give Indie my Stripe secret key?
No. The manual Stripe option uses a webhook signing secret, which verifies messages from Stripe. Connect Stripe authorization is also being prepared so you can approve access in Stripe without copying an account API key. That connection is still in testing.
Can several apps share one Stripe account?
Yes, with explicit assignment. The Connect Stripe flow lets you choose a default project or match the indie_project metadata on charges to a project. Unmatched purchases stay unassigned instead of being guessed. This flow is currently in testing.
Can I use a different payment provider?
Your server can send confirmed purchases and refunds through the Events API. That requires an integration in your app. Indie does not currently offer one-click connections to every payment provider.
Will importing old sales make my phone ring?
No. The optional 90-day Stripe import is designed to add history without sending historical sale or refund notifications. Imports are part of the Connect Stripe flow currently in testing.
Does “up” mean everything in my app works?
No. It means the checks you configured are passing. A homepage can respond while a checkout or background job fails. Monitor important endpoints separately and add heartbeats for jobs. Indie does not currently run complete browser checkout tests or automatically fix your code.
What does “unknown” mean?
There is not enough active monitoring information to call that app up or down. An app with no monitor, paused checks or checks in maintenance can be unknown. Unknown is kept separate from healthy.
Will alerts override Silent Mode or Focus?
No override is promised. Sounds and visible notifications depend on iPhone permissions, volume, Silent Mode and Focus settings. Indie has its own sound and quiet-hour preferences too.
Is the widget live?
It is a snapshot. The widget shows when its data was last updated, and iOS controls background refresh timing. Open Indie when you need the latest details.
How is revenue calculated?
Indie shows recorded purchases and refunds. Today’s net sales are today’s purchases less their recorded refunds, using your selected timezone. This is not profit, a bank balance or a forecast. Different currencies remain separate.
Are projects really unlimited?
There is no project-count fee or cap in the launch plan. Checks, heartbeats, incoming events and devices have separate allowances. A website, its API and its certificate can use three different monitors. The pricing page lists every launch allowance.
What happens at the event limit?
There are no automatic overage charges. Excess incoming events are rejected explicitly so the sender can retry later; they are not silently accepted and lost. Existing history remains. Assigned imported sales and refunds count toward the same allowance.
Can I export or delete my data?
Owned-workspace data can be exported from the web app. Account deletion is available on web and iPhone. Shared ownership and unresolved billing can require action before deletion. Disconnecting Stripe stops syncing but keeps existing purchase history.
Can I use Indie on Android?
You can use the web dashboard in a browser. A native Android companion is in preview and is not yet available on Google Play. The iPhone companion is also in private testing.
Does Indie handle support conversations?
Your app can send a customer-message event so you know a request arrived. Indie is not a full support inbox, and replying to the customer happens in your own support tool.
